World War II Tour | A Guide to Leeuwarden

Guided tour

until 31 May

On this walking, you will discover most extraordinary stories about World War II in Leeuwarden

From April 19, you can join the local guides of A Guide to Leeuwarden on 5 Saturdays at 2:00 PM. They will tell you the most special stories from the Second World War. What did the people of Leeuwarden themselves notice about the war? What happened to the Jewish residents of Leeuwarden? Where was the occupier and what special actions did the resistance carry out? In 2025 we will celebrate 80 years of liberation and there will also be extra attention for the pilot assistance and air war.

Start: Our tours start at the Oldehoofsterkerkhof. Our guides will be waiting at the entrance of Obe (the Visitor Center Leeuwarden is located inside). This is opposite the Oldehove (the leaning tower) and the regional products store Ut Streekie. The walk takes 1.5 hours and ends at the resistance museum.
