Take a look at the house where Mata Hari was born! Mata Hari, pseudonym of Margaretha Geertruida (Griet) Zelle (Leeuwarden, 7 August 1876 - Vincennes, 15 October 1917), was a Frisian exotic dancer and court lady. During World War I, she was recruited as a spy. However, she was accused of double espionage and shot by the French. The question of whether she really was and is a double agent is still debated and has contributed to her becoming a legend. In the house where she was born, her father Adam Zelle ran his hat and cap warehouse on the ground floor. In the hat and cap shop, which is decorated in "the style of the past", you will find a large collection of men's hats and caps as well as clothing accessories such as belts, bags, gloves, umbrellas, etc. You will also find Mata Hari souvenirs and an exhibition space for a number of Frisian artists to show and sell their artworks.
In short, definitely worth a visit!
