To Leeuwarden by boat

The Stadshaven around the Prinsentuin is regarded as one of the most beautiful ports for passers-by in the Netherlands. When you enter the port, you’ll immediately understand why. You will find many moorings in the middle of the former ‘pleasure garden’ of the Nassau’s and the historic heart of the city. The port area extends from the Noorderbrug to the Noordersingel. Sanitary facilities are available, as well as the possibility of running water and electricity. The Museumhaven can also be found in the middle of the historic centre of the city and extends from Willemskade to Wirdumerpoortsdwinger. And, as the name might already suggest, here you actually can imagine yourself in an open-air museum. The port is full of sailing heritage, from historic clippers to imposing old tjalks (long, narrow sailing ships with often just 1 mast). And you as a passer-by can simply lie in between them! There are also temporary berths available. You must put in a request to the municipality in advance. From the Museumhaven, you will be in the nice city centre in no time and you are only a few minutes away from the central train station.

Prefer to moor in one of the largest (covered) marinas in Western Europe? Then you sail on to the Leeuwarder Marina. Nice to be able to tell this at home, right?! Passers-by are almost always assured of a nice spot in this impressive port. All necessary facilities are also available here. And you may not expect it, but the city centre of Leeuwarden is only 2 kilometres away. Great for walking or bicycling! Didn’t bring your own bicycles? You can also rent them from the port warden.
