City walk Leeuwarden - Poetry route
Poetry on the streets.
What city has such a thing: just walking on poems. Since the first series of ten poems, delivered in September 1993 on the occasion of Mr G.J. te Loo's farewell as mayor of Leeuwarden, several stones have been added to this unique route every year. For the first poetry tablets, we selected older, existing work and newly written Frisian-language and Dutch-language poems by writers who had lived or were still living in Leeuwarden. Later, poets not directly related to Leeuwarden were also selected. However, the aim remained to have half of the poems written new and the rest to draw on previously published work.
