Cycle route along the Dokkumer Ee
This cycle route takes you from Leeuwarden straight through the Leeuwarder forest towards the north. The route passes a number of Stinzen such as the Dekema State in Jelsum and the Martenastate in Koarnjum. You cycle across meadows, past medieval churches, windmills and over narrow cycle paths along the Dokkumer Ee. In spring and summer, you'll see many boats sailing by. The Dokkumer Ee is part of the Elfstedentocht and you also cross the famous little bridge at Barthlehiem. On the way, you pass Grutte Pier's brewery and very pretty villages such as Wyns, Burdaard and Snakkerburen. Of course, we will also give you tips on where to eat and drink. The route can be shortened at Wyns by crossing by ferry. Distance 20 to 32.5 km.
