You may not find clear blue water, tropical palm trees and white-as-snow sand here, but mooring in one of the most beautiful ports in the Netherlands is possible here. Exploring Friesland (from the water) should be on everyone's bucket list, with Leeuwarden being the perfect starting point. The city is not called ‘Leeuwarden Water City’ for nothing. From a luxury motor yacht to cosy (sailing) boats, there is plenty of room here.

Ports around Leeuwarden - A stone's throw away
You will not only find special moorings in Leeuwarden, you will also find suitable ports just outside the city for mooring. In the water sports village of Grou, you will find four different ports: the Pikmeerhaven, the Hellingshaven, the Nieuwe Kade and the Súderkade. All four located near the cosy centre of the village and, of course, only a few kilometres away from Leeuwarden.
If you sail on to Warten, you can moor in the middle of the Alde Feanen National Park. You will experience the ultimate holiday feeling in this fairy-tale nature reserve. The perfect base to immerse yourself in the breathtaking Frisian (water) landscape!
The picturesque Wergea, Reduzum and Jirnsum also have special passenger ports.

Especially for all water sports enthusiasts in Friesland, there is the 'Watersport' app. Always have up-to-date information at your fingertips, such as bridge times. You will also find information about waterways, speed zones, boat ramps, current shipping traffic, and much more! New features include the navigation function and notifications when passing large cargo ships. Additionally, the app offers advice for navigating busy waterway junctions, ensuring that you're well-prepared for your journey!
