Highlights Week 42 & 43

It’s October, and the Oldehove is slowly preparing for a well-deserved winter rest. A perfect time to look forward to the wonderful events still to come: Wu Zetian, Explore the North, and the Northern Film Festival, just to name a few. In the meantime, special (new) exhibitions, the best routes, the largest dinosaurs, and ice skating in the Elfstedenhal will provide memorable autumn moments! Wu zetian

In the nearly 2,000-year history of the Chinese Empire, many rulers occupied the throne. They were always men, with one exception: Empress Wu Zetian. Numerous books and films have been made about her fascinating life, yet there has never been a major exhibition in Europe dedicated to her story—until now. Het Princessehof presents this exclusive premiere: the museum in Leeuwarden will bring her remarkable story to life through around one hundred Chinese relics, rarely seen in Europe.

Elfstedenhal

Dino Weeks at AquaZoo

Normally, at AquaZoo Leeuwarden, you can spot impressive animals like polar bears and crocodiles, but until November 10th, you'll travel back in time. Giant dinosaurs have taken over the park, making your visit even more exciting! Looking for even more adventure? Play dino bingo or embark on an exploration with the special dino passport, packed with challenging tasks.

Climb the Oldehove

The Oldehove is slowly preparing for its winter slumber, but you still have until October 27 to admire Leeuwarden from the top of our own leaning tower. So put on your shoes, climb to the top, and enjoy that magical view—because before you know it, the Oldehove will drift off until spring.

And yes, the City Train is also making its final rounds through Leeuwarden! Until October 26, you can ride through the city and discover its most beautiful spots.
