We wanted time to stand still, however the clock marched solemnly on. 2018 was a year of fantastic initiatives and pride-instilling events. Leeuwarden and Friesland saw how the ‘mienskip’ could contribute to and shape the cultural landscape of the world.

Every year, two European cities are given the chance to become cultural hotspots. After several years of trying, Leeuwarden became one of the them in 2018. Along with Friesland, we took the challenge of making the best party out of the opportunity, turning everything into a ‘mienskip’, and inviting as many people to share in the experience as possible.

2018 was great, but the new year brings new chances to celebrate culture- and the Leeuwarden agenda is filled with projects and grand events.
