In conversation with experts
Experts from these organisations will be present to talk to you about your document or object and to give you more information about its historical value. They would also like to hear as much as possible from you about the object/document. Who did it belong to? What is the story behind it? Perhaps the object or document is eligible for inclusion in the collection of one of the institutions. The experts will discuss this with you.
Not necessarily handing in
So it is not just about donating material. Museums and archives have a collection policy and can only keep objects that fit into that. The Day is therefore mainly intended to make people aware of the historical value of material from the Second World War. If an object is not included in the collection of one of the participating institutions, the experts can think about a different destination.
