De Friese Bankier van het Verzet

The musical theatre performance Evenhuis | De Friese Banker van het Verzet (The Frisian Banker of the Resistance) tells the intriguing story of resistance fighter Jan Evenhuis and his daughter Jeanne. As head of the tax department in Leeuwarden, Evenhuis committed large-scale tax return fraud during the Second World War, defrauding the occupying forces of almost 6 million guilders. The money financed large-scale hiding aid in Friesland and saved the lives of thousands of Jews, Allied pilots and other persecuted people.

But when his daughter is rounded up by the Germans in 1944, it throws Evenhuis completely off balance. He tries to buy her off with a large sum of money but the Nazis do not trust the business
The theatre performances will be played in Leeuwarden, Sneek and Drachten.

In Leeuwarden, it is also possible to take a walk through the Vrijheidswijk district before the performance. You can book a ticket for this separately.

Lectures are also organised in all three cities. These are at other times than the performance evenings.
