Joost Oomen, Kruidkoek and Explore the North - Liefde in tijden van Hopjesvla

What do you get when you put Frank Zappa and Remco Campert in the blender together? Talking Heads and Jules Deelder? Miles Davis and Simon Vinkenoog? That's right, Kruidkoek and Joost Oomen. In their new show Liefde in tijd van hopjesvla (Love in times of custard) they once again bring a brilliant mix of poetry and muscle-flexing jazz. Their goal: to completely immerse the audience in joy, absurdism and, well... love? 

Sweet fever dream of music and poetry

Liefde in tijd van hopjesvla (Love in times of coffee custard) is a brave attempt to rid love songs and love poetry of dripping clichés. Because yes, even in these strange times someone still falls in love, but how do you say that sincerely? How do you avoid the harp and the sonnet? How do you express the custard in your chest that has suddenly caught fire?

Kruidkoek consists of four hyper-talented jazz musicians who were tired of colouring within the lines. For ten years, they have been bringing their idiosyncratic music from Cairo to Middelburg, from the Parade to the flower parade in Tiel. Joost Oomen is the most famous young poet in the Netherlands. He previously brought Alle dichters hebben gouden helikopters to the theatre, a performance in which he explains poetry to the prime minister. Together, Joost Oomen and Kruidkoek previously created the successful performances Vruchtjes Eten and Tuut Tuut Kwantumschuim in collaboration with production company Explore the North.
