The Oldehove may be covered in scaffolding, but leaning… it’s staying that way! Through December 2026, the symbol of Leeuwarden is undergoing a thorough restoration. Think repair of masonry and jointing, iron structures, clock faces, and much more. A real glow-up , so that the Oldehove looks spick and span again. But disappearing behind scaffolding? Absolutely not. While hard work is being done outside, things continue as usual inside! From May through December, there are a whole host of cool extra activities in and around the Oldehove.

Open due to maintenance
During the Oldehove Glow-up During the restoration period, the tower transforms into a surprising stage full of crazy activities that normally do not take place in the tower. From film screenings and living room concerts to dinners at height, game nights, stargazing on the roof, and even immortalizing the crooked Pride of Leeuwarden with a free tattoo: from May to December, the Oldehove is actually open for maintenance! Curious about the full program? Then keep an eye on our page.

660 m² Coloring page
The Oldehove is covered in scaffolding, so why not make something beautiful out of it right away? From October 9 to 24, the enormous coloring page on our leaning tower will be colored in night after night with light projections by Kroft&Smids. And the best part: your artwork could soon appear meters high on the Oldehove.
Pick up your coloring page at the Visitor Center, let your imagination run wild, and return it to us by October 14 at the latest. Who knows, you might see your creation on the tower afterwards.
