Theaterkerk Mammemahuis
The theatre is named after the Mammema State, which once stood opposite the church and where Jonker Sikke van Dekema, lived. The little church of Jellum, now Mammema House, is the final resting place of Jonker Sicke van Dekema (1548-1625). He and his kin rest in the crypt, under the podium of the Mammemahuis. This jurist is the inspiration for this theatre 400 years later.
In the Mammema House, you can enjoy ceremonies, meetings, weddings, music, theatre, lectures, presentations and (theatre) dinners in peace. A house where one can learn and experience, hence the subtitle learning & experiencing house; educational, museum, musical and theatrical.

The Mammoth House as a house of learning:
The former function of the church building returns as much as possible in the Mammema House. As a house of learning and experience serving the local and regional community. The learning house responds to current, social issues. Such as the liveability of societies. The Mammemahuis hosts a continuous learning circle and focuses particularly on "yeps"; Young Eldery People and the region.
The Mammama House as a house of experience:
The building provides space for recreational and cultural activities for the residents of Jellum/Bears and the surrounding area. A special theatre in the Frisian landscape with a rich history. In the spring of 2022, the burial vault was inaugurated. Jonker Dr Sicke van Dekema took centre stage in it. He was welcomed back as a resident of Jellum.
In cooperation with the restaurant of the same name, Jonker Sikke, opposite the little church, you are well taken care of. Thus, the desired catering for a meeting, lecture, wedding or theatre dinner, for example, can be nicely tailored to the wishes and needs of our guests.
