From the most beautiful cycling routes to the charming Eleven Cities and the World Heritage Site of the Wadden, you can literally and figuratively go in every direction from Leeuwarden without ever getting bored! The Wadden
The Wadden, also known as the Wadden Sea, is one of the gems of Friesland. This unique nature reserve is not protected by UNESCO for nothing. The extraordinary landscape is home to countless animals and plants and is definitely worth a visit. From Leeuwarden, you can easily take the train to Harlingen. From there, you can cross over to both Terschelling and Vlieland. If you prefer to go to Ameland, you can take the bus to Holwerd.
