The station area warmly welcomes train travelers to the city. It is home to cozy cafés, good restaurants, and unique exhibitions. From this area, you can also quickly reach the Schrans. Here you can find charming boutiques, artisanal products, run a quick errand, and rent a bike! An incredibly versatile area, close to the city center. What more could you ask for!

The Achmea Tower
At 114,6 meters tall and with 26 floors, the Achmea Tower is the defining feature of the Leeuwarden skyline and visible from far beyond the city. Designed by Bonnema Architecten, the tower opened its doors in 2002. Since then, the building has been occupied by various large and small businesses and service providers. For a long time, people could take a look inside the tower. Unfortunately, for several years now, it has not been possible to enter or climb the tower.

Love Fountain
The Love Fountain welcomes everyone arriving in Leeuwarden by train or bus. The fountain was designed by the Spanish artist Jaume Plensa and consists of two 7-meter-high sculptures of a boy's and a girl's face. Unlike a traditional fountain, a large cloud of mist surrounds the sculptures here.
Restaurants, cafes and more!
Along the courtyards, streets, alleys, ridges, and nooks and crannies, you’ll find them everywhere! Small (or sometimes slightly larger) spots to settle down and enjoy a well-deserved cup of coffee, a cold beer, or a delicious meal. And even if the sun is shining, we highly recommend heading inside; many of these places have a stunning inner garden to enjoy in peace and quiet.
