150 years of Mata Hari - 058 Jazz: De Zelle Sessions | music | Leeuwarden terraces

The summer evening sun struggling to seep behind the facades, the melting ice cubes clinking in cool glasses, and the relaxed tones of jazz in the background—what more could you wish for?

This event is part of 150 Years of Mata Hari . We are celebrating this anniversary year in Leeuwarden with art, dance, theater, parties, exhibitions, tours, and much more. The program runs from May 23 to August 7 (Mata Hari's birthday) and can be found here .

As soon as the first notes float through the streets, the center of Leeuwarden transforms into a lively tribute to the musical heyday of the early twentieth century. The Zelle Sessies bring the authentic sound of yesteryear into the present and spread the timeless atmosphere of nostalgic jazz throughout the entire city center. The audience can fully immerse themselves in these classic sounds, where the rhythms of the past seamlessly blend with the contemporary dynamics of the Frisian capital.

This extraordinary spectacle takes place on six different terraces, creating a musical route that bathes the city in a warm bath of improvisation. Because the event is free for everyone to attend, it invites you to pull up a chair and enjoy the craftsmanship of the musicians.
