Jan-Dirk van Ravesteijn conducted three years of research at home and abroad into the life and love of the Frisian stadtholder, Willem Lodewijk van Nassau. He wanted to know more about the woman behind this man. And he wanted to know how their love for each other started and what the family thought of it. Because the marriage between this cousin and nephew was described as a bloody battlefield.
After three years of research and writing, all the scenes were written together on a mountain in Austria. A putting sauce was applied over it.
Beautiful music was written for it. With a classic shade.
